Role of TCM in Treating COVID-19

2020年1月伊始，新型冠狀病毒肺炎在武漢暴發(fā)，抗擊“新型冠狀病毒肺炎”的戰(zhàn)役打響，全國各地各行各業(yè)、各個崗位的人們都在和時(shí)間賽跑。自新冠肺炎疫情發(fā)生以來，國家衛(wèi)健委聯(lián)合中醫(yī)藥局陸續(xù)發(fā)布了多版《新型冠狀病毒感染的肺炎診療方案》，在此期間，湖北省第一時(shí)間也發(fā)布了“新型冠狀病毒預(yù)防及診療方案”，大力提倡應(yīng)用中醫(yī)藥進(jìn)行預(yù)防和治療。

At the beginning of January 2020, novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) broke out in Wuhan, marking the start of battle against COVID-19. People from all walks of life across the country were racing against time. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the National Health Commission of the PRC and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine have jointly issued several versions of the COVID-19 Diagnosis and Treatment Plan. During this period, Hubei Province also timely issued the "COVID-19 Prevention and Treatment Plan", which recommended the application of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).

數(shù)據(jù)顯示，此次新冠肺炎疫情中湖北省有61449人使用了中醫(yī)藥，占90.6%。清瘟顆粒（湖北一號方）的使用，有效緩解了新冠肺炎的臨床癥狀，減少輕型，普通型向中型發(fā)展，提高治愈率、降低病亡率，促進(jìn)恢復(fù)期人群機(jī)體的康復(fù)。

Data show that 61,449 patients in Hubei Province received TCM treatment during the epidemic, accounting for 90.6%. The application of Inflammation-Eliminating Formula (COVID-19 Prevention Formula No.1) has effectively relieved the clinical symptoms of COVID-19, reduced probability that mild and general cases develop into medium cases, improved the recovery rate, reduced mortality and facilitate physical recovery of patients in recovery phase.

除了清瘟顆粒（湖北一號方）外，在此次疫情中，中醫(yī)藥發(fā)揮著不可替代的作用。目前全國5萬多名出院患者大多數(shù)使用過中醫(yī)藥，截至3月17日，全國除湖北以外的地區(qū)，中醫(yī)藥參與救治的病例占累計(jì)確診病例的96.37%，在湖北地區(qū)中醫(yī)藥的參與率也達(dá)到了91.05%。

Apart from Inflammation-Eliminating Formula (COVID-19 Prevention Formula No.1), other Chinese herbal medicines also play irreplaceable roles. At present, among over 50,000 discharged COVID-19 patients in China, most of them had taken Chinese herbal medicines. As of March 17, 96.37% of the total confirmed cases in provinces other than Hubei have received TCM treatment. In Hubei, this rate also reached 91.05%.

"Prevention is the key. In the early inflammation, patients shall take Chinese herbal medicine to prevent it from developing into severe cases. Once you get COVID-19, you should take Chinese herbal medicine in the first place."

中國工程院院士、中國中醫(yī)科學(xué)院院長黃璐琦：

Huang Luqi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS) indicated:

“根據(jù)臨床調(diào)查，重癥患者有80%愿意接受中醫(yī)藥治療，輕癥患者有90%愿意接受中醫(yī)藥干預(yù)，隔離的患者也希望中醫(yī)藥早期介入。患者對中醫(yī)回訪滿意度達(dá)70%。”

"According to clinical investigation, 80% of critically ill patients are willing to receive TCM treatment, 90% of mild patients are willing to receive TCM intervention, and patients in quarantine also hope to receive early TCM intervention. According to return visits, patients' satisfaction with TCM treatment reached 70%."

“在新冠肺炎救治方面，湖北省中醫(yī)藥參與救治的百分率大概75%以上，全國其他地區(qū)已經(jīng)達(dá)到90%以上。”

"In the treatment of COVID-19, participation of TCM in Hubei Province is about 75% or above, and that in other provinces has reached over 90%."

“針對金銀潭醫(yī)院對重癥患者救治情況，把出院病人中醫(yī)組與西醫(yī)組進(jìn)行對比，結(jié)果是中西醫(yī)結(jié)合在核酸的轉(zhuǎn)陰時(shí)間比西醫(yī)組顯著降低，發(fā)熱、咳嗽、乏力、咽干、食欲減退等十個癥狀比西醫(yī)組明顯改善，對淋巴細(xì)胞，中性粒細(xì)胞明顯改善，并且中西醫(yī)結(jié)合平均住院時(shí)間顯著的小于西醫(yī)組�！�

"In view of the treatment of critically ill patients in Jinyintan Hospital, when comparing the group receiving TCM treatment with the group only taking western medicine, the results showed that the negative conversion time of nucleic acid tests in the group receiving both TCM treatment and western medicine was significantly shorter than that of the group only taking western medicine. For the group receiving TCM treatment, ten symptoms such as fever, cough, fatigue, dry throat and anorexia were significantly improved, with significantly improved lymphocytes and neutrophils compared with the group only taking western medicine. Besides, the average hospitalization time of the group receiving both TCM treatment and western medicine was significantly shorter than that of the group only taking western medicine."

在此次預(yù)防新冠肺炎的戰(zhàn)役中，中醫(yī)藥力量積極發(fā)揮作用，介入治療，在預(yù)防、治療、恢復(fù)等都有著卓越的貢獻(xiàn)。在全國各地的醫(yī)療戰(zhàn)場上，中醫(yī)藥正成為救治新冠肺炎患者的一個重要“武器”，為新冠肺炎患者的健康保駕護(hù)航。

In the fight against COVID-19, TCM has played an active role and TCM intervention has contributed a lot to the prevention, treatment and recovery of patients with COVID-19. On "battlefields" across the country, TCM has become a powerful "weapon" in fighting against COVID-19 and safeguarding the health of patients.

附：清瘟顆粒（肺炎一號方）

Appendix: Inflammation-Eliminating Formula (COVID-19 Prevention Formula No.1)

方劑組成：蒼術(shù)3g，金銀花5g，陳皮3g，蘆根2g，桑葉2g，生黃芪10g

Formula: Atractylodis rhizoma: 3g; Lonicera japonica flos: 5g; Citri reticulatae pericarpium: 3g; Phragmitis rhizoma: 2g; Mori folltfm: 2g; Raw astragali radix: 10g;

功能主治：益氣固表、清熱，解毒祛濕。用于新冠肺炎的預(yù)防。

Indications and Usage: Invigorate and consolidate stamina, relieve inflammation, detoxify and eliminate dampness. It can be used for the prevention of COVID-19.

服用方法：早晚各一次，一次1袋，開水沖服，服7-10天。

Dosage and Administration: Take one packet of medicine twice daily (morning and evening) after mixing it with boiling water for 7-10 days.
